[in front of school]
宝宝自今天起正式上kindergarten，每天8:10am-2:10pm，共交费$1,500。以前都是免费的，自今年起，full time kindergarten开始收年费。
 
学校共有4个K班，宝宝在K2班，班上共有19个学生。K-5共6年，均在同一所小学上。这种public school，按所属学区上学，没有挑选的余地。通常，学校好的区，房价相对高一些。
 
教室较大，布置与preschool没有什么不同，玩耍区、学习区，桌子、小椅子、书架等，还有个restroom。
 
学校提供有午饭，每顿$2.25，除牛奶每次都有外，有三种配餐可选。宝宝的牙不好，通常选软的食品。费用可以按天缴纳、按周缴纳或按月缴纳。午饭也可以自带，snack全部自备。
 
今天提前到了。等到八点多钟，校长带了几个高年级的学生过来，每个帮忙举一个K班的牌子。宝宝要过背包背上，跑到K2班的牌子前，排到第一个。等后面有人来了，与别人聊开了。老师出来后，好像还跟老师说什么。8:10am，铃声响起，排队进入学校。有个小孩还掉眼泪了。忘记带照相机了，明天补上。
 
宝宝进去后，到前台为宝宝付了这周的饭钱。

　　A boy, three and a half years old, needs a baby sitter now. He has not been sent to kindergarten yet, and is being taken care of by his grandmother at the moment.
　　He is as lovely, naughty, and energetic as a boy at his age can be.
　　As a native Chinese living in Beijing (红庙路口北), he can only speak a few English phrases occasionally. For example, when he was watching a baseball game on TV one day and a homerun was hit, he said, “应该先打一个double，再打一个homerun.”

　　A female is definitely preferred.
　　Woman is the soft portion of human being, and is more caring and kind.

　　The preferred range spreads from 18 to 30, with a possible extension to 35.
　　Most under aged girls are unable to take care of themselves fully, and do not have extra energy to take good care of the kid. Therefore, 18 years old or plus is a requirement.
　　A lady over 35 years in age is a bit slow in catching a 3-4 year old boy, who may run around in the yard or play tirelessly all day long, except the 10-11 hours for sleep.
　　When a young lady is staying with a kid, they play together naturally. But when an old lady is in place for the younger one, she has to make special efforts to get into play with the kid.

DISCUSSION 3: Education
To make a better babysitter, she should be well educated. College graduates are first targeted. A small percentage of high school graduate diploma holders and postgraduate students may also be considered as good babysitter candidates. Each year, a considerable number of college graduates come to Beijing to try their luck. Some succeed, and others do not. For those not, time is also on their side, but their time has obviously not arrived yet. They have to wait. They can wait for the arrival of their time at my home while enjoying her time with the 3.5 years old boy. Listen to me, there is no reason to miss this opportunity.
 
DISCUSSION 4: Personality
A girl with a pleasant personality is welcome by all, including kids. An admirable personality is a reflection of her values, attitudes, and life style. A sunny babysitter with an open mind will make happy the kid, and the whole family as well. To make it clear, I must say that a babysitter is an special member of the family. By special I mean while the other members of the family are related to each other by either blood tie or marriage, the babysitter is bonded to others by none. Yet, she will become one of the most influential figure in the whole life of the kid. A good babysitter is less easy to find than a lover. When you have chemistry with a girl and fall in love with her, you will be fascinated by her, and love her, and love her dog too. You have nothing but love love love, and you will be blinded by love. What is in front of you is a way leading to marriage or a trap. That’s easy. When you look at a babysitter, you look at her objectively. You and your kid may like her, but do not necessarily like her dog. You become much more critical. Ok stop here. You know what I mean.

Beauty is a good letter of introduction. Real beauties are God given and rare to find, but pretty women are everywhere. “Young is beautiful.” A kid may take after the looking of the one staying with him everyday. When my nephew was small, my father hanged on the walls many posters of babies with angle faces. Asked why years later, my father smiles, and said, “the kid has a much better looking now!” What else can you say  Another example is the phenomenon that a loving couple may become resembling each other. What are the reasons  One obvious reason lies in the fact that they have lived together for a long time. And therefore they have watched each other with a tender and adoring feeling for a long long time too. You have the right to reject the explanation, but you cannot deny the fact. A pretty woman will make a good boy. A pretty babysitter will make my kid more handsome.

又看早上小熊维尼的录像。标题出来了，是“Stripes”，一时没看出具体指什么。
 
小熊维尼系列，标题多是完整易懂的，比如：

这个Stripes意思可就多了。随嘴念出声，又自问了句“什么意思呢？”就听到小儿随口应道：“跳跳虎的条纹。”对，跳跳虎身上是有条纹的。
 
这又让我得意了一次。录像，他当然是看过了，猜出是什么意思不应是什么了不起的事，但也毕竟不是什么人都能懵出来的。
 
不料过了几秒钟，他抬头又吐了两个字：“没了”。他原来是想说：“跳跳虎的条纹没了。”那上面不经意的问答，可能更大的是时间上的巧合了。
 
“没了”两个字，让我的那种得意劲一下子就没了----这种得意劲又一次只存在了几秒钟。

陪小儿上学前班
 
五月份，小儿开始上学前班(preschool)。每天上午9:00-12:00。
 
第一周，全程陪护，在幼儿园里呆着，看书。小儿不时回头看一眼，看看在不在。如果看到站起来了，就跑过来叫“你坐下”，生怕抬腿走了。
第二周，告诉他幼儿园不允许陪了，他就商量说：“你每天陪我一小时。过一会儿进来看看我。”其他时间在路边车上看书，中间再进去一次。
第三周，再告诉他幼儿园不许陪了，他又商量说：“你隔一天陪我一小时。这总行吧？” 其他时间在路边车上看书，中间再进去一次。
最后一周，只在外面车里等着。中间有时也不进去。中午领他时，他说：“你怎么没来？我猜你肯定是在车里睡着了。”那就顺坡下驴，点头称是。其后在车里“睡觉”的时候就多了。但从此开始，每天早晨一到学校的第一件事就是上厕所，时间花得比平常多了。以前一般是10点左右才上厕所的。

每次离开教室时，小儿多是送至门口，挥挥手，提醒说：“过半个小时/一个小时来看我。”今天突然变了，说的是：“你慢慢走。”看来已经知道六月以来我不在路边等了。自六月开始，时间改为9:00-14:00。

正在下载一部小说的MP3。小儿指着屏幕说：“给我留着。”那就给他留着。等下载完毕，小儿占据了笔记本，对我说：“你去吃东西吧。”并把计算机掰了90度，正好让我看不见屏幕。等他操作了几下后，把笔记本给他扳了回来，看到标题是床上什么的，有张照片是个男人的后背。原来是这样，给他关了窗口。告诉他这种东西没意思。他就转移话题，叫到：“陪我玩游戏！”。
多数综合性网站，都把两性话题放在首页，作为吸引眼球的“卖点”。小儿肯定是发现了上面的照片缩图，才想让我离开的。但愿今后几年内小儿不要对这类图片发生兴趣。

整洁者，整齐洁净之谓也。二者形影相随，鲜有独行者。小儿例外，只好整齐，不爱洁净，不亦怪哉？

小儿的整齐癖，在其两岁多就已有苗头。去王府井书店，书碰到地上，就回身蹲下捡起来摆回原处。看到书架上的书有凸出来者，就随手推进去，排列整齐。

此后整齐癖愈演愈烈。玩具车，按大小颜色分类排列整齐，折纸业按模型摞成摞。如果玩时不小心碰了下整整齐齐的纸张，他会停下来，先把纸重新整理好，再继续其它游戏。小枕头布折了一点，他也要重铺一下，用小手把枕布方正展平，再把头放上去。

小儿对自己的东西讲求整齐，对别人的去不在乎。我看书，常随手把打开的书放在地上，因为这样再看时方便。书脊隆起，张力饱满，韵致自生。但小儿却视而不见，常常有意无意地跑过，就那么准，一脚下去，噗嗤一声，书脊立马塌了腰，书不成样子了，而小儿却似浑然不觉。

说不爱洁净，主要表现在吃上。吃东西时，得有人盯着，他一吃完，要抓住他的两手托到水池去洗，否则脏手就抹到身上了。即使手边备了餐巾纸，他也不用。手这样，嘴更麻烦。要么抬手抹在袖子上，要么站起来抹在你的身上。看到你拿餐巾纸，他就像跟你比速度似的，拔腿跑向沙发，嘴抹了上去，还要朝你笑笑，弄得你哭笑不得。

但他对吃却很讲究。吃东西前自己跑去洗洗手。掉到地上的，不吃；有人动过了，不吃。理由就是：“掉地上了”和“你吃过了”。

昨天中午，小儿在看电视Best of the Joy of Painting，跑过来问shallow是什么，就随口说：“shallow  是shadow吧。Shadow是影子、阴影，像人影、树影等都是。”
一会儿小儿又来问shallow color是什么，才明白上面我搞错了。不免解释一番。昨晚又来问building是什么。
记得有次在抱着枕头被子出来玩时，小儿嘴里嚷着：“So much fun”。在做托举游戏时，说very high。都准确无误。
小儿听音准，发音也准。这点可比我强多了。记得上大学时，曾把《96个小故事》背下来，再到听音室听录音。边看边听，一会儿就不知道别人读到什么地方了，丢了。可知发音和听音能差到什么程度。
现在在家里，都讲汉语，不教小儿英语，让他自己自然学英语，学自然准确的英语。当然，小儿主动来问的除外。
有个朋友家里也是双语环境，儿子十多岁了。有天对他妈说：“妈，你说中文吧。我听得懂。你的英语我听着别扭。”呵！

儿子画完一个蝴蝶，工作人员说可以再画一个，小儿脱口而出：“No. Thanks.”那个工作人员有点兴奋地看着小儿对其同事说：“He speaks perfect English.”
好像是在头天晚上，他妈拿吃的东西给他，他说了句：“No. Thanks.”他妈就把东西拿走了。接着小儿才问他妈“No. Thanks.”是什么意思。
这是小儿第二次与外国人对话英语了。第一次也是在Science Museum 的Discovery Center，玩拼板，工作人员提醒他一下：“It is this one.”小儿随声应道：“Yes.”

妈妈：“今天咱们沿河边走。”
儿子：“妈妈，Science Museum底下就是河。Science Museum 立在河上。”
 
8:00pm
[客厅]
“妈妈，tomado是什么？”
“西红柿”
“那龙卷风的英文是什么？”
“Tornado”
“怎么都是tomado呀？”
“西红柿是tomato，龙卷风是tornado。”

“反正我今天得去Science Museum。”
“好，好。星期一早上先到旁边的这个幼儿园去看一下。如果跟那个差不多，就到这个了。你就呆在那里跟小朋友们玩，几个小时后我再去接你。咱们约定好时间。如果中间有什么事，你让老师给我打电话，我马上就到。以后，我就送妈妈上班，送你上学，再接你们回来。给你们开车了。”

看《十面埋伏》DVD。小儿一直静坐不动。到46分钟时，小儿说：“太长了。”57分钟时，又说：“太长了。”我试着问：“出去玩气球？”小儿向前按键弹出磁盘，递过来，说：“太长了。都热了。”看不成了。
开始还以为可以带他进剧场电影院了，看来还是不行。可能看动画片可以。
